Marriage License

Yesterday we had the privilege of obtaining our marriage license at the Carthage, Illinois Courthouse (labeled as B on the map). On the way up, we drove by a car crash that included large flames and an impressive column of smoke. Plus we drove through Quincy, IL as Obama was arriving to give a speech. After getting our license and jump starting the car that mysteriously died, we drove down to St. Louis to do a session at the temple (C). By this time it was 7:00 pm, so we continued on our way home to Warrensburg. We had been hoping to stop in Columbia (D) for dinner and some shopping, but we rolled in at about 8:57. Just enough time to see all of the restaurants and stores closing up. So we cut our losses and got McDonald's. We finally got home a little after 11 pm, bringing our total miles and driving time (according to mapquest) to 614.25 miles in 10 hours and 19 minutes. Below is a map detailing our route, starting and ending in Warrensburg (or E).

Today is a day in history. As of 2:00 this afternoon, Megan officially finished her college career. After 16 years of school (17 counting preschool), she has finally completed her education. No more studying or taking tests or writing papers. Best of all is the chance to read books for fun. That's wild.

In need of truck

Per Ben's request, we are notifying all of our diligent readers of our need of a truck.  We have found this beautiful specimen of a table--solid oak no less, and unfortunately it is far to large to fit into a Honda Civic.  We have to drive all the way to Logan to get it, but we're both excited about acquiring our second piece of furniture together.  The excitement never ends....

Our Couch

If there's one thing that Ben is good at, it's finding good deals.  Free engagement and wedding pictures, a cheap dress... all things made possible by Ben.  This week he has started devoting his time to finding us cheap furniture.  Yesterday we acquired our first piece of furniture together as a couple--a couch.  While this might not seem very exciting to everyone, we found it an important step to becoming adults.  It was offered online for free; we had to borrow Sherrie's van to pick it up, plus we had to drive all the way to Park City, so all in all it was about $30. And definitely worth it--this couch is going to contribute to a lot of refreshing naps in the next few years. Point, Ben.

Easter

Last week was Easter, and while that particular holiday does not hold a lot of importance to Ben, Megan is a bit of a fan. So to commemorate the day, Megan and Ben colored eggs. Naturally competition developed as to who could make the best egg.  We don't need to say who was more creative, but there a pictures that can speak for themselves.
Blue and Orange--any surprises?
